Executive Director
Sheza Khan
Hi! I’m Sheza Khan, a Junior at Oswego East High School. At East, I'm the President and founder of my school's Medicine and Astronomy Club. Outside of school, I'm a dedicated member of Seeds of Hope. I joined to help protect Illinois’ native prairie plants and combat local environmental challenges in the Oswego/Aurora area. I believe that hands-on, community-driven action is the key to creating lasting change. My favorite nature activity is gardening, which I enjoy with my parents every spring and summer. We plant pollinator-friendly flowers, grow tomatoes and strawberries, and care for them as they flourish, reminding me of nature’s resilience and the importance of preserving it.

Co-Director of Communication & Outreach
Tarun Puri
Hi! I'm Tarun Puri, a student at Oswego East High School and a passionate environmental advocate. At East, I am involved in several extracurriculars including organizations like MUN and Key Club among others. Outside, I am also involved in several organizations like Scouting America and Neighborhood Med Nerds. Growing up, I was deeply involved in environmental programs and initiatives, earning recognition through Purple Plow, Bee Wild, Nuclear Power Illinois, and other county conservation projects. These experiences sparked my belief that meaningful change begins with education, service, and community action. I joined Seeds of Hope because I want to help protect Illinois' natural ecosystems and inspire others to become environmental stewards. Whether through conservation projects, community engagement, or environmental education, I believe every effort contributes to a healthier future. My favorite way to connect with nature is camping, playing volleyball outside, and hiking. Spending time outside reminds me why protecting our environment matters and motivates me to continue making a difference in my community.

Director of Operations
Avery Ku
Hi!! I'm Avery Ku and I'm a senior at Oswego East High School. I am the Secretary of the Schools NEHS and SNHS organization, and I also have been involved in the Marching Band for three years. I have always been interested in the environment, and I love gardening with my family and helping out with their plants. Outside of school, I enjoy playing the trumpet, swimming, tennis, and cooking. Seeds of Hope allows me to continue my passion and interest to engage myself with the environment nowadays, and I fully believe that our team will be able to put in the work and time to help raise awareness about the lack of native plants in Illinois! :)
